Soupy Saturdays

    Aunt Gayle’s Chili

I cannot believe that I am sharing this for #Soupysaturdays…I highly debated about disclosing this recipe.  It is dear to my heart and one that I have mastered.  If my family ever had a “secret recipe” this one would be it!  I know that everyone has  different preferences when it comes to Chili…and this is mine!

Every October, we have an incredible Fall Festival at TKC and we always have a chili cook-off.  I ALWAYS enter, but you know the drill…the Pastor can’t win – LOL.  The judges always come to me and say, “Pastor Steph, you win again.”

    So…Ladies here you go!

    Ingredients

    2 lb. Ground Beef

1 Package of Chili-O Mix (I use the one without onion)

2 tsp of Ground Cinnamon (trust me-without this it’s not the same)

1/4 cup of Brown Sugar (a MUST)

2  15.5 oz cans of chili beans (I use 1 mild and 1 hot)

1 46 Oz can of Tomato Juice

    2 cups of water

1 dash of Crushed Red Pepper to taste

    Directions

Brown ground beef and drain off grease.  Place beef into soup cooker.  Add all spices and stir well while cooking on low.  Add all other ingredients.  Simmer on medium while stirring occasionally for an 1/2 hour.

    Garnish It Girl

Sprinkle with Shredded Cheese, A Dallop of Sour Cream, and Oyster Crackers if you prefer.  You want to really make it extra?  Serve along side fried potatoes and you are Gucci!
